Caryatid "Source of the Mélite fountain". Made by Lalique, France, designed in 1924. Catalogued from 1928 to 1932, not reissued after 1947.
Signed in pen “R Lalique” on the back, near the base.
Sculpture in satin-finished pressed-molded glass, clear blown-molded glass, frosted and acid-etched on the outside;
Original rectangular wooden base.

The sculpture model belongs to a set of 16 variations designed for the 128 caryatids that adorned the Fountain of Sources of France, installed at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925.
