Jean Touret was a French sculptor and designer born in 1916 in Lassay-les-Châteaux, a small commune west of Paris, France, and died in 2004. Touret began his career working for an insurance company but quickly discovered a passion for art. After work, he took evening drawing classes to hone his skills. After the war, he returned to France, where he opened his studio, the Atelier de Marolles. Over the years, he designed and produced several pieces, including tables, lamps, and sideboards. Touret also worked with metal, designing zinc and copper screens. He is also known for designing the monumental bronze altar of Notre-Dame, which was installed in 1981.
