IN STOCKA set of six two-armed sconces, known as blower sconces, made of chiseled and gilded bronze, depicting cupids blowing trumpets. The sconces are adorned with acanthus leaves, rosettes, ribbon bows, and feature a pine cone at the bottom. Period mercury gilding.
Based on a model by Jean Hauré from 1787, master-foundry sculptor responsible for Crown Furniture from 1784, commissioned for the Château de Saint Cloud. A copy is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Similar model delivered to the Crown Furniture Repository in 1787.
Another series of sconces are in the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
