Jean Carlu is a French cartoonist and poster artist. XIXth century, mainly known for his work in the field of graphic art, particularly in the design of advertising posters, magazine covers and theatre sets.

Carlu was a pioneer of the modern style in advertising and visual communication. His work was often characterized by clean lines, geometric shapes and a bold use of color.
