Advertising poster to promote the Thomann brand of bicycles and motorcycles created by Alphonse Thomann in 1908.

The poster specifies Thomann "without the first name" in order to differentiate it from the brand 'A. Thomann' or 'Alphonse Thomann'. Indeed, Alphonse Thomann sold his company to Gentil et Cie in 1911, to then reopen another bicycle and motorcycle company. The company Gentil et Cie prohibited Alphonse Thomann from using the brand "A. Thomann" which belonged to them following the sale in 1911.

Alphonse Thomann therefore decided to create the "Thomann" brand with the orange elephant as its emblem. This is also to be distinguished from the "Jean Thomann cycles", Alphonse's brother, which had the monkey or gorilla as its emblem.

Alphonse Thomann was also the inventor of autogenous welding with "invisible joints." In the poster, elephants pulling in opposite directions are unable to overcome Thomann's highly resistant welded cycles. One of the elephants even breaks its trunk.
