The poster is signed Charles-Jean Hallo (1882-1969), known as ALO, painter, designer, illustrator, engraver and photographer. Specializing in the representation of tourist landscapes and hunting scenes (animals), he also distinguished himself in aviation, producing advertising gouaches of airplanes published in L'Aérophile.

This advertising poster promotes tourism in Normandy, particularly in Pont-Audemer, nicknamed the Little Norman Venice. It represents the Auberge du Vieux Puits, recognizable by its half-timbered facade.

Run by Albert and Jacques Foltz from 1934 to 2001, this starred establishment enjoyed a reputation that extended far beyond the borders of Pont-Audemer and Normandy. Frequented by businessmen and artists alike, it stood out for its unique atmosphere, authentic furniture and unusual decoration.
