Additional information:
Jean Hornung was a French painter, illustrator, and poster artist active in the early 20th century. He distinguished himself through his work for French railway companies, notably PLM (Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée), for which he created magnificent tourist posters.

Old advertising poster published in 1932 for the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée Railway (PLM), created by the artist Jean Hornung.

With a soft and vaporous style, this work illustrates a mountain village nestled in an Alpine valley, dominated by majestic snow-capped peaks in pastel hues. The composition highlights the high-altitude resorts of French regions such as the Alps, the Jura, the Auvergne, and the Cévennes, flagship destinations for mountain tourism at the beginning of the 20th century.

The almost dreamlike pictorial rendering, with its subtle, gradient colors, evokes the purity of the air at altitude and the attraction of a peaceful stay in the heart of nature.
