Marc Chagall was a painter and engraver, born in 1887 in Liozna, near Vitebsk, Belarus, naturalized French in 1937, and died in 1985, in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. His work presents characteristics of surrealism and neo-primitivism although he was not attached to any movement.
