Albert Roosemboom represents a charming beach scene. Two children, possibly brother and sister, share a game of croquet. The painter catches them in the middle of a conversation. The older sister seems to give her younger brother some savvy advice before the younger one tries his hand at shooting. He listens patiently, and suspends his action.

The finesse of execution testifies to the skill of this specialist in genre scenes and childish figures, who died prematurely.

Albert Roosenboom specializes in genre painting, figures and interior scenes. Of all his paintings, those of. seashores are the most sought after. He trained in the studio of the painter Jean-Baptiste Meunier. The painter exhibited in Brussels, Ghent and London. He is the father of the famous Art Nouveau architect of the same name and first name.
