Magnificent Norman wedding wardrobe from the Louis XV period, from the 18th century, with rich carvings and moldings.
It was the father of the groom who ordered this wedding cabinet. Indeed this wardrobe served as a dowry offered to the newlyweds.
The importance and prominence of the carvings was proof of the social significance of the donor.
Here, the Rocailles sculptures are fine and dense, describing various bouquets, interlacing, floral scrolls intended to represent the love that the newlyweds will have for each other. Floral decorations also decorate the top of the doors and the cornice.
In addition, the molded doors blend beautifully with the finesse of the cabinetmaking work done on the sculptures.
The cabinet rests on 4 arched legs dressed in acanthus leaf, typical of Louis XV furniture.
Painted white, there is also a recoating brush job done.
Shades of gold and silver therefore perfectly highlight the carvings of the cabinet.
Moreover, this same rechampi gives even more relief to the sculptures and moldings of this cabinet.
Finally, the interior has been left in its raw oak color.
The original lock has three anchor points.
The width of the cornice is 134cm.
