BOIN TABURET Silvered bronze centerpiece Napoleon III period

BOIN TABURET Silvered bronze centerpiece Napoleon III period
A sumptuous piece of goldsmithing, this centerpiece depicts two idealized, half-draped young women supporting a large shell-shaped basin at arm's length. Their graceful bodies intertwine in a spiraling movement, while the fluid interplay of draperies and vegetal scrolls blossoms at the base into a rocaille-like profusion.
The finely chiseled and silvered surface of the bronze captures the light with a liquid brilliance that exalts the modeling of the flesh and the virtuosity of the casting work.
This masterpiece of refinement testifies to the historicist taste of the late 19th century. XIX19th century, where Parisian goldsmithing, under the impetus of prestigious houses such as Boin-Taburet, brilliantly renewed the forms of XVIIIth century.
