Japanese covered box in Satsuma earthenware

Very refined covered box in satsuma earthenware. The polychrome decoration of gold and colored enamels represents courtesans walking in a lake landscape. The gold powder border is decorated with stylized chrysanthemums. The interior presents butterflies finely made in polychrome. A signature drawn in gold lacquer, in a cartouche, is by Kinkozan. Meiji period (1868-1912).
