Charles Clément Calderon (1870/1906) Born in Paris in 1870 / died in 1906

A pupil of Cabanel, Calderon was above all a landscape painter. Like many landscape painters of his time, he was particularly inspired by the city of Venice, which he painted in an expressionist style. Most of his works depict views of the city and the canals plus some maritime paintings. He also traveled to Turkey from where he brought back landscapes of Istanbul and the Bosphorus. He participated in the Colonial Exhibition of 1906, the year of his death at the age of 36.
