EDOUARD & JOHN BARNARD LONDRES, 1864: 925 mil silver ewer. ovoid-shaped model with a round pedestal, engraved decoration of palmettes and medallions, represented by a young woman in the antique style, one at her toilet and the other carried by Mercury. A snake forming the natural handle is wrapped around the body and the neck, chasing a butterfly resting on the hinged fretel lid.

The third numbered medallion "this jug forms part of a presentation valued at £ 300 from his patients to Professor J. SENTON REID, MD BELFAST 1866".
English goldsmith's hallmarks, city and date. Diamond pattern registration punch under the Victorian era used between 1842-1883. This corresponds to the period 1842-1867. The diamond registration mark (Registration Mark) existed in the 19th century in England for goldsmiths, porcelain makers, ceramists, cabinet makers, upholsterers and glassmakers from 1842 until 1883.
It indicates here the year of registration of the model (D for 1854), the day (29) and the month (K for November) as well as the type of activity (I for the metal).
