Emile FOUBERT was born in Bayonne in 1848 and died in Paris in 1911.
He was a pupil of Léon Joseph Florentin Bonnat, then of Charles Busson and the landscape designer Henri Léopold Lévy whose influence, balanced by that of Corot and Millet, was decisive in the manner of Foubert. Which exhibited in the Parisian Salons from 1875 to 1880, obtaining the honorable mention in 1879, and the third class award the following year. His first subjects were portraits, religious allegories and mythological compositions: "The Punishment of Caiaphas", "Hesiod and the Muse", "Christ at the Column", and "Nymphs and Faun." »In 1884 he was admitted to the Society of French Artists; the 1885 exhibition earned him a second-class medal, that of 1889 a bronze medal, and finally in 1900 a silver medal was awarded to him.
