Large white filigree Murano glass photo frame by Venini

This beautiful horizontal photo frame is very rare. It is purely in the Venetian glassmaking tradition. The technique used to achieve this rich optical effect is called filigrana and requires highly skilled makers. This photo frame is made of white Murano glass covered with crystal by Venini, Murano. Thin white lines wrap around the crystal glass frame like very fine threads. Filigree is a traditional technique, which began in the 16th century. This technique requires highly skilled makers. They use long glass rods that they overlap, intertwine, and fuse together. Each rod is wrapped around a glass cylinder and blown into shape. At the end of this operation, the master glassmaker must keep each colored line separate, with the same thickness and curvature around the glass, as quickly as possible before the temperature drops. The result of this technique is almost hypnotic as it produces a perfect net effect. It could match with vintage, classic, art deco, mid-century or contemporary interiors and would be perfect to adorn your bookcases, consoles, shelves or chests… It could be placed alone or with similar frames in other colors. Moreover, it would be a good gift idea… Dimensions of the photo layout: 23 cm x 18 cm
