Very beautiful Louis style pedestal table XVI in speckled mahogany, surrounded by a gilded bronze gallery and trimmed with blue Turquin marble. It opens with a deep drawer in the belt. The legs decorated with chiseled and gilded bronzes are joined by a spacer in blue Turquin marble, they are fitted with bronze casters.
The oak frame bears the stamp of G DURAND, a cabinetmaker born in 1839 who trained with Beurdeley and Dasson, under the top.
Gervais DURAND settled in Paris, on rue de la Cerisaie then rue Beautreillis and in the Hôtel de Sully.
He designed and produced his own furniture. In 1889 he participated in the World's Fair and received a silver medal.
