Beautiful gilt bronze clock with Cupid in bronze with brown patina. It rests on a red marble plinth richly decorated with rosettes, laurels and pearl decorations in gilded bronze.
The missing rosettes have been re-manufactured according to the rules of the art.

Guillaume Denière was born in Paris on May 22, 1815 and died in the same city on November 20, 1901. Bronzier, manufacturer and French banker, he is the son of Jean François Deninger (dit Denière) (1756-1866), bronze manufacturer Parisian, who produced, among other things, the coronation carriage of Charles X. A pupil of Aimé Chenavard and Henri Labrouste, he succeeded his father at the head of the Maison Denière, an important Parisian house of bronzes and goldsmiths, employing then 400 workers, it will be official supplier of Louis-Philippe and the upper middle class.

Guillaume Denière collaborated in particular with the artists Albert-Ernest Carrier Belleuse and Louis-Constant Sévin, he executed, among other things, several clocks for the Tuileries Palace in 1852, a spectacular bronze for the Russian ambassador in 1854, decorative bronzes for the Viceroy of Egypt Mohamed Said Pasha in 1862, a mantelpiece for Napoleon III in 1867 and the railings of the Throne Room for the King of Cambodia Norodom I.

He will be, among other things, a member of the imperial commission of the Universal Exhibition of 1867 in Paris.
