SOLID SILVER ROCK PLANTER WITH BRASS INTERIOR, NAPOLEON III PERIOD
A superb Rococo-style planter, crafted from solid silver and richly carved with volutes, foliage, shells, and ornate cartouches. The exuberant, virtuoso decoration illustrates the Second Empire's taste for the lavish reinterpretation of the Louis XV style.
The piece is centered with a medallion engraved with a monogram and flanked by two openwork side handles, ending in leafy scrolls. The removable gilded brass interior, designed to accommodate floral arrangements, protects the silver from possible alterations.
