Bibliography
Portrait painter, genre painter and watercolorist, born in Paris on May 25, 1846, died in the same city in 1909.
Gustave Jacquet was a pupil of Bouguereau. He had no other masters and at the beginning of his career his way felt that of his teacher. He began at the Salon of 1865 with an allegory: Bouguereau's reverie could have been signed. But the following year he approached the genre that was to consecrate his reputation and began to give the Salons small canvases in which he evoked with conscientious attention to the smallest detail the elegant life of the XVIe, XVIIe and XVIIIth centuries.
