Born in Meaux in 1605, he died there in 1671. He trained in the studio of Georges Lallemand and Simon Vouet. He was also influenced by the work of La Hyre and Vignon, his palette is warm and luminous.
In the center of a stable the holy family welcomes the Three Wise Men who have come to pay homage to the child Jesus standing with his left hand blessing Melchior under the gaze of Caspar, Balthazar and their entourage. An intense light emanates from the virgin and her child and spreads over the crowd. The shimmering colors of the richly embroidered costumes illuminate and brighten this magnificent composition.
