Culture Baoulé, Ivory Coast
First half of the XNUMXth century
H: 23; Wt: 8,5; Thickness: 3 cm
Light wood throwing weapon carved on the handle of a full-length anthropomorphic figure. She is standing, her legs individualized from each other, her hands resting on the upper thighs, her back arched and marked with an incised spine, the buttocks plump, the shoulders protruding, the tapered chest and the Oval face. His closed eyes and closed mouth give him the expression of apparent tranquility. Its tiny ears are C-shaped.
Its feet, included in the sling, rest on an arc of a circle serving to fix the flexible firing band where the projectile was placed.
These slingshots were used to hunt small animals such as birds or small game.
