- 3 folio volumes (573 x 400 mm), half cherry sheepskin, ribbed spine, half-title, title & table for each volume, 200 lithographed or engraved plates, some after Giraud de Prangey, most tinted. Rare foxing. Small fraying and slight humidity or marginal tarnishing for around ten boards, nevertheless a very good copy. (ref. 84377)
The three atlases alone (without the volume of text in 4to format) of the most important work of the XIXcentury entirely devoted to Arab art. Very richly illustrated, it contains lithographed views after the great photographer Giraud de Prangey, one of the first French travelers to take photographs in Cairo and Jerusalem. The beautiful plates represent views of remains (exterior and interior) and ornamental details (doors, knockers, torches, dishes, etc.).
