"Accolay" refers to a community of potters established in the village of Accolay (Yonne) in Burgundy, active from 1945 to 1983 and formed by four former students of the Polish ceramist Alexandre Kostanda. Accolay's production is characterized by great inventiveness with varied shapes and bright colors and the use of many ceramic techniques such as brush enamels and luster glaze, gold enameling, scarified engobe, etc. The production has always been signed with a unique signature for the community, "Accolay".
The community was well known for having invested in service stations on the migration routes of Parisian tourists to settle and make permanent exhibition spaces.
