1 STREET OF PEACE PARIS
H.29 - L.8,2 - P.8,2 cm
Very pretty pair of bronze candlesticks with brown patina in the spirit of Japonism from the second half of XIXe, probably from a drawing by Edouard Lièvre.
La Society of artistic marbles and bronzes was founded by Charles de Marnyhac in Paris: first avenue de l'Opéra, then rue de la Paix, it was specialized in the production of works of art. Maison Marnyhac wins a medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1878. Maison Marnyhac registers its creations with the other great creators of this second half of the XIXe, period during which Japan is a source of inventiveness, such as Barbedienne, Christofle and the Crystal Staircase. Marnyhac collaborated with Edouard Lièvre (1828-1886), one of the most creative ornamentalists of the second half of the XIXth century.
