Jules NOEL, Born in 1815 in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle) - Died in 1881 in Algiers
Painter of genre scenes, animated landscapes and seascapes, landscapes, seascapes, church interiors – gouache painter – pastel watercolourist – lithographer – draughtsman – Student of Cherioux in Brest, Jules NOEL came to Paris in 1840, where he exhibited at the Salon until 1879 – Brittany and Normandy are, apart from the Middle East, his open-air studios – from peaceful fishing ports to pathetic shipwreck scenes, Jules NOEL puts as much verve and brilliance into portraying his subject – his watercolours and paintings are of a spiritual execution – Jules NOEL was particularly successful in the representation of the Normandy coasts, – his familiar scenes of life in the city, in the countryside, at the sea, constitute a picturesque and lively testimony – very appreciated, the studio of Jules NOEL is the meeting place of several generations of artists from romanticism to realism.
