
Pair of 1st Empire period chairs attributed to Jacob Desmalter (1770 – 1841), son of Georges Jacob, in molded, carved and lacquered wood. The chairs bear the Louis-Philippe period iron inventory marks (three fleurs-de-lys in an oval) as well as the Mobilier National inventory marks for Fontainebleau F16258/2S, F 3669.
Jacob Desmalter supplied the national palaces under the Empire including Saint-Cloud, Compiègne, Fontainebleau, Meudon, Rambouillet, the Palais
of the Tuileries.
