40 x 26 cm without frame and 53 x 42 cm
Philibert COUTURIER is the painter of the farmyards, an excellent draughtsman, he gives his roosters, hens and guinea fowls a certain character with strong colours. In the foreground the rooster with shimmering and shiny feathers is surrounded by superb galiformes.
We imagine the crowing and the cackling while admiring these magnificent chickens.
He also enjoys painting genre scenes and portraits.
A student of Picot, he entered the Paris School of Fine Arts in 1844.
His paintings are present in many museums.
He is the author of the brochures on Millet and Corot.
