Hemispherical in shape, it is an impressive pair of large vases
in Satsuma earthenware decorated with Bijin (Japanese beauties) with
children in a garden, walking, or even preparing for a picnic, under the
red maples, a sign of the arrival of autumn. On the other side, on
the terrace of a pavilion, dignitaries and children examine a
roll. All the characters are very finely and richly decorated
with gold and polychrome enamels. Character cartridges are divided by bands
verticals in the style of silk brocades. Very original shape, very high quality of execution and exceptional condition. Period: Meiji 19th century. Height: 27,5 cm.
