Henri-Alfred Jacquemart, famous French sculptor, born on February 24, 1824 in Paris.

He studied sculpture from 1845 at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He regularly exhibited his works at the Salon, from 1847 to 1879.
Henri-Alfred Jacquemart forged his reputation through animal sculpture, which was very popular with the bourgeoisie in his time.
He is among the sculptors who, along with others like Pierre-Louis Rouillard, Pierre-Jules Mêne, and especially Antoine-Louis Barye, were prominent in the second half of the XIXThe 19th century benefited from the new enthusiasm of the bourgeoisie for furniture sculptures, particularly animal sculptures, and from the spectacular development of this market, supported by the numerous art foundries that reached their peak in France at that time.

He will travel to Egypt and Turkey, countries which will become a source of inspiration for him.
The sculptor receives numerous commissions from the State and the City of Paris.
