Alfredo BIAGINI (1886 – 1952)

Alfredo Biagini is an Italian sculptor, born in Rome in 1886.

Son of a goldsmith, he studied sculpture and architecture from 1905 to 1909 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
After this first phase of studies, he settled for a time in Paris, where he took courses in architecture and sculpture, then courses in anatomy where he studied the animals in the city's zoo from 1909.
There he developed his identity as an animal artist.

His interest in animals earned him an award from the National Museum of Natural History in Paris in 1909.
Alfredo Biagini's works are characterized by a balance between naturalism and stylization, between rendering details and simplification of volumes.

The sculptor's fame increased over the years thanks to his constant participation in National and International Exhibitions, such as the Venice Biennale from 1924 to 1930 and the International Exhibition of Modern Art in Geneva in 1920.
