Henri Fugère (1872-1944)

Henri Fugère, is a famous French sculptor and medalist, born on September 7, 1872, in Saint-Mandé.
Son of the sculptor Léon Fugère, he began his apprenticeship at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He received instruction from the sculptors Jules Cavalier, Louis-Ernest Barrias and Denys Puech.
From 1893, he exhibited regularly at the Salon of the Society of French Artists, of which he was finally elected Vice-President.
In 1927, he received an Honorable Mention.
In Henri Fugère's work, we find numerous realistic representations of warriors, soldiers, historical figures, but also works on the theme of work.
After the 1914-1918 War, H. Fugère turned mainly to the Art Deco style, which was in vogue at that time.
He died in 1944 in Paris.
