Louis Style Hot Water Bottle Table XVI – Marquetry of Cubes – Rosewood & Rosewood – Late 18th

Louis style hot water bottle table XVI from the end of the 18th century, beginning of the 19th century.

This table has a stopper decorated with an exceptional marquetry depicting a genre scene.

We probably see a couple of nobles served at tea time, accompanied by their dog in their living room.

There are different species of wood in marquetry, rosewood, sycamore, tinted sycamore, cedar burl...

The finesse brought to the details of this landscape are incredible: folds of the curtains, woodwork, furniture, clothing...

This central landscape is highlighted by a frame of triangles in two contrasting woods.

In addition, this cap is reversible. Indeed. On the "back" of this marquetry, a tray revealing a chess / checkers game in rosewood and sycamore highlighted by rosewood all around.

Even elsewhere, there is, below the cap, a tray sheathed in original fawn leather to accommodate all card games, tokens, etc.

This table also has 3 different tops.

Unlike the vast majority of hot water bottle tables with two drawers and two drawer pulls, this one opens with four belt drawers, two of which are very original swivels.

Dovetail mounting.

The curling work on the belt is typical of the Louis style XVI.

It is a marquetry forming superb cubes in rosewood and sycamore as well.

The bronzes are of good quality, both their gilding and their carving.

Finally, this table rests on four sheath legs whose hooves are also dressed in bronze.

Magnificent quality table with very high decorative potential.

The table has been completely restored and refinished.
