Danielle Quarante is a French designer, born on June 22, 1938 in Sarcelles. She lives and works in Paris.
She entered the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 1959. She created objects from molded wood, thermoformable materials, and polyester. Her stackable "Balthazar" chairs and tables were selected for the Prisunic-Shell competition in 1972.
She was the first to introduce design training into an engineering curriculum, at the University of Technology of Compiègne.
She presented the Albatros armchair at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in 1969. The shapes were made possible by the polyester and fiberglass material, which simultaneously offered strength and elasticity.
She was one of the first designers to use the computer-aided graphic design system.
