Antiquity & Design
The Malassis Market, whose innovative architecture and vast dome stood out in 1989 at the entrance to the Paris Saint-Ouen Puces, quickly asserted its presence and originality. Its partly covered walkways call on both the ground floor and the first floor to stroll through time, from the XNUMXth century to a new design, conducive to discovery. Beautiful volumes arranged in a spirit of "gallery" where small stands overflowing with furniture and objects ... The hundred merchants installed in Malassis have created in this young market a very unique atmosphere on the Flea markets.
Antique decorators: These antique dealers have the art of finding furniture or sometimes unusual objects, of restoring them and including them in an atmosphere that they create according to their inspiration of the moment. They brilliantly mix waxed furniture or furniture with regained patinas, fun objects or objects diverted from their original function to give birth to Charming Decoration, baroque or neoclassical, sometimes including more contemporary components.
Art of living
Themed shops: Some antique dealers have particular affinities for an era and its style, associated with a certain art of living. These include orientalist stands, tableware, bistro furniture, marine objects, a writer's library or an artist's studio, collectors (watches, toys, postcards, etc.), Beaded trimmings and jewelry… It's a real Prévert-style inventory, unexpected and fun, to discover or rediscover.
The XNUMXth century is widely represented on the Malassis Market:
- 30/40 furniture with simple lines and balanced volumes using the richness of precious woods,
- pieces from the 50s brilliantly exploiting new materials,
- very designer furniture from the 70s resulting from an intense creative bubbling
At the end of this walk along these alleys, the visitor emerges a little disoriented, as after a trip… a fast, varied trip, filled with beautiful encounters.
