Jan-Baptist Lambrechts 1680-1731 was born in Antwerp.
A Flemish painter who was orphaned at a very young age, he moved to Lille to sell his works at the annual fair.
His many trips abroad enrich his painting. He enjoys painting interior scenes, taverns, market scenes and kitchens.
He did not return to Antwerp until 1709 where he became master of the guild of Saint-Luc.
Cooks, servants, vegetable sellers, farmers and drinkers often appear in his paintings, the scenes are very detailed and rich in color.
