  • 2 volumes in-4, half-shagreen, percaline covers, ribbed spines, blind-stamped fillets, gilt monograms at the foot (late binding). Volume I: xix- [6]- 430- [1] pp., frontispiece and 54 plates outside the text, 15 of which are folded (including a plan), Volume II: [12]- 456- [1] pp., frontispiece and 40 plates outside the text, 27 of which are folded, frontispieces engraved by Duflos and Thomassin, with two portraits of Louis XV as a child and the Regent Philippe d'Orleans. Minor rubbing, a slightly cracked joint at the head. Discharges of eight engravings that do not have a serpente. Otherwise very fresh.

 Of the nine volumes planned for this monumental celebration, only these first two volumes appeared, superbly illustrated from the work of artists such as Charles Le Brun, Cochin or Coypel with views, statues and paintings, engraved by Aveline, Duflos, Flipart , Surugue etc., and the rare folding plan of Versailles. Cohen (724) announces 100 plates, in reality the number of plates varies from one copy to another.
