Sculpture signée « Delaplanche » , en creux suivi de la date « 1873 » .
Marque du fondeur « F.BARBEDIENNE FONDEUR.PARIS » et Cachet circulaire « Réduction Mécanique A. Collas Breveté » .
Sculpture d’édition ancienne , période seconde partie du XIXème siècle .
Parfait état de conservation et de patine .

Important bronze group with brown patina , depicting a mother giving a reading lesson to her daughter « Maternal Education » , by the sculptor Eugene Delaplanche (1836-1891) , edited by the founder « Ferdinand Barbedienne » .
Sculpture signed « Delaplanche » in hollow , followed by the date « 1873 » .
Foundry mark « F.BARBEDIENNE FONDEUR.PARIS » and circular stamp « Mechanical Reduction A. Collas » .
Old edition sculpture , period second half of the 19th century .
Perfect state of conservation and patina .

Eugène Delaplanche (1836-1891)
Eugène Delaplanche , est un célèbre sculpteur français , né le 28 février 1836 , à Belleville (Seine) .
Il entre en 1852 , à l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris , où il est l’élève de Francisque – Joseph Duret .
Il obtient , le Premier Prix de Rome de Sculpture , pour la ronde-bosse en plâtre « Ulysse bandant l’arc que les prétendants n’ont pu ployer »
et devient pensionnaire de la Villa Médicis à Rome , de 1864 à 1867 .
Avec Alexandre Falguière et Antonin Mercié , il fait partie du Groupe des Florentins , manifestant son intérêt pour la grâce florentine .
Eugène Delaplanche , décède à Paris le 10 janvier 1891, il est enterré au cimetière du Père-Lachaise .

Eugene Delaplanche (1836-1891)
Eugene Delaplanche was a famous French sculptor , born on 28 February 1836 , in Belleville (Seine) .
He entered the Paris School of Fine Arts in 1852 , where he was a pupil of Francisque – Joseph Duret .
He won the First Prix de Rome for Sculpture for his plaster sculpture « Ulysses bending the bow that the suitors could not bend » and became a resident at the Villa Medicis in Rome , from 1864 to 1867.
Along with Alexandre Falguiere and Antonin Mercie , he was a member of the Florentine Group , showing an interest in Florentine grace .
Eugene Delaplanche , died in Paris on 10 January 1891 , and is buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery .
