Jules Moigniez (1835 – 1894)

Jules Moigniez est un sculpteur animalier français .
Il était l’élève de Paul Comolera (1818 – 1897) , grand sculpteur spécialisé dans les oiseaux , lui-même élève de François Rude .

Jules Moigniez expose à vingt ans sa première sculpture « Chien Braque arrêtant un faisan » lors de l’Exposition Universelle de 1855 , à Paris .
Il expose ensuite régulièrement au Salon , de 1859 à 1892 , où il obtient une mention honorable dès la première année .
Il présente de nouveau ses sculptures à l’Exposition Universelle de Paris en 1878 .

J.Moigniez connaît un grand succès , particulièrement en Angleterre et aux États – Unis .
En effet , ses oeuvres sont jugées remarquablement détaillées , avec une ciselure très approfondie , complétée d’une élégance dans les attitudes .
Face au succès de son fils , son père crée spécialement une fonderie pour lui .

J.Moigniez exhibited his first sculpture »Dog Braque stopping a pheasant » at the age of twenty at the Universal Exhibition of 1855 , in Paris .
He then exhibited regularly at the Salon , from 1859 to 1892 , where he obtained an honorable mention in the first year .
He presented his sculptures again at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1878.

J.Moigniez enjoyed great success , particularly in England and the United States .
Indeed , his works are considered remarkably detailed , with very thorough carving , complemented by elegance in attitudes .
Faced with his son’s success, his father created a foundry especially for him .
