Épreuve en bronze à patine brune , figurant une bécasse prête à l’envol , après avoir pêché un poisson dans un marais , qu’elle tient fièrement dans son long bec , par le sculpteur animalier Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) .
Le sculpteur met en avant l’instinct de chasseur de la bécasse , ses sens sont en éveils .
La bécasse est représentée avec un corps massif , un plumage finement cisélé , les ailes déployées .
Jules Moigniez porte une attention particulière aux détails anatomiques , ses oeuvres sont jugées remarquablement détaillées , avec une ciselure très approfondie , complétée d’une élégance dans les attitudes.
Signature du sculpteur « J.Moigniez » en creux , sur la terrasse naturaliste , richement arborée et ornée de végétaux .
Rare sculpture ancienne , datant de la seconde partie du XIXème siècle .
Parfait état de conservation et de patine .

WOODCOCK CATCHING A FISH , JULES MOIGNIEZ (1835–1894)
Bronze sculpture with a brown patina , depicting a woodcock ready to take flight , after catching a fish in a marsh , which it proudly holds in its long beak , by the animal sculptor Jules Moigniez (1835–1894) .
The sculptor highlights the woodcock’s hunting instinct , its senses are on high alert .
The woodcock is depicted with a robust body, finely chiseled plumage, and outstretched wings.
Jules Moigniez pays particular attention to anatomical details , his works are considered remarkably detailed , featuring very intricate carving , complemented by an elegance in the poses .
The sculptor’s signature « J.Moigniez » incised on the naturalistic base , richly adorned with trees and foliage .
A rare antique sculpture , dating from the second half of the 19th century .

Jules Moigniez (1835 – 1894)
Jules Moigniez est un sculpteur animalier français .
Il était l’élève de Paul Comolera (1818 – 1897) , grand sculpteur spécialisé dans les oiseaux , lui-même élève de François Rude .
Jules Moigniez expose à vingt ans sa première sculpture « Chien Braque arrêtant un faisan » lors de l’Exposition Universelle de 1855 , à Paris .
Il expose ensuite régulièrement au Salon , de 1859 à 1892 , où il obtient une mention honorable dès la première année .
Il présente de nouveau ses sculptures à l’Exposition Universelle de Paris en 1878 .
J.Moigniez connaît un grand succès , particulièrement en Angleterre et aux États – Unis .
En effet , ses oeuvres sont jugées remarquablement détaillées , avec une ciselure très approfondie , complétée d’une élégance dans les attitudes .
Face au succès de son fils , son père crée spécialement une fonderie pour lui .

Jules Moigniez was a French animal sculptor .
He was a student of Paul Comolera (1818–1897), a great sculptor specializing in birds , who was himself a student of François Rude .
At the age of twenty , Jules Moigniez exhibited his first sculpture , « A Braque Dog Pointing at a Pheasant » , at the 1855 World’s Fair in Paris .
He then exhibited regularly at the Salon from 1859 to 1892 , where he received an honorable mention in his very first year .
He once again presented his sculptures at the 1878 Paris World’s Fair .
J. Moigniez enjoyed great success , particularly in England and the United States .
Indeed , his works were considered remarkably detailed , with very intricate chiseling , complemented by an elegance in the figures’ poses .
In light of his son’s success , his father established a foundry specifically for him .
