Épreuve en bronze à patine brune , figurant un Jockey et son cheval rentrant du pesage , avant le début de la course , par le sculpteur Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) .
Avant chaque course , les jockeys doivent se peser officiellement dans la salle des balances , et ainsi faire constater que leur poids et le même que celui figurant sur le programme de Course .
Le poids que porte le cheval , comprend celui du jockey , des équipements (selle , tapis de selle , sangle) , et des plaques de plomb glissées dans la selle afin de faire le poids exact .
Pour les courses de galop et de trot monté , le poids de base que doivent porter les chevaux est fixé selon l’âge des chevaux auxquels la course est ouverte et en fonction de la catégorie de course.
Bronze titré , « Retour au Pesage » , et signé « J.Moigniez » en creux sur la terrasse naturaliste , à contre-socle mouluré .
Sculpture d’édition ancienne , période seconde partie du XIX ème siècle .
Très bon état de conservation et de patine .

Bronze proof with brown patina, depicting a Jockey and his horse returning from the weigh-in, before the start of the race , by the sculptor Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) .
Before each race , the jockeys must officially weigh themselves in the weighing room , and thus confirm that their weight is the same as that appearing on the race program .
The weight carried by the horse includes that of the jockey , equipment (saddle , saddle cloth , girth) , and the lead plates slipped into the saddle in order to make the exact weight .
For gallop and mounted trot races , the basic weight that the horses must carry is fixed according to the age of the horses to which the race is open and according to the race category .
Bronze titled , « Return to Weighing » and signed « J.Moigniez » in hollow on the naturalist terrace , with a molded counter-base .
Old edition sculpture , period second part of the 19th century .
Very good state of conservation and patina .

Jules Moigniez (1835 – 1894)
Jules Moigniez est un sculpteur animalier français .
Il était l’élève de Paul Comolera (1818 – 1897) , grand sculpteur spécialisé dans les oiseaux , lui-même élève de François Rude .
Jules Moigniez expose à vingt ans sa première sculpture « Chien Braque arrêtant un faisan »lors de l’Exposition Universelle de 1855 ,à Paris .
Il expose ensuite régulièrement au Salon , de 1859 à 1892 , où il obtient une mention honorable dès la première année .
Il présente de nouveau ses sculptures à l’Exposition Universelle de Paris en 1878 .
J.Moigniez connaît un grand succès , particulièrement en Angleterre et aux États – Unis .
En effet , ses oeuvres sont jugées remarquablement détaillées , avec une ciselure très approfondie , complétée d’une élégance dans les attitudes .
Face au succès de son fils , son père crée spécialement une fonderie pour lui .

Jules Moigniez is a French animal sculptor.
He was a student of Paul Comolera (1818 – 1897) , a great sculptor specializing in birds , himself a student of François Rude .
J.Moigniez exhibited his first sculpture »Dog Braque stopping a pheasant »at the age of twenty at the Universal Exhibition of 1855 ,in Paris .
He then exhibited regularly at the Salon , from 1859 to 1892 , where he obtained an honorable mention in the first year .
He presented his sculptures again at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1878.
J.Moigniez enjoyed great success , particularly in England and the United States .
Indeed , his works are considered remarkably detailed , with very thorough carving , complemented by elegance in attitudes .
Faced with his son’s success, his father created a foundry especially for him .
