Épreuve en bronze à patine brune nuancée , figurant une perdrix accompagnée d’un escargot , par le sculpteur Prosper Lecourtier (1851-1924) .
La perdrix est représentée debout , avec un plumage finement cisélé , elle repose sur une base naturaliste richement ornée de végétation , où se trouve un escargot .
Le sculpteur porte une attention particulière aux détails anatomiques et à la justesse de mouvement de ses sujets .
Ses oeuvres sont jugées remarquablement détaillées , avec une ciselure très approfondie , complétée d’une élégance dans les attitudes .
Signature du sculpteur « LECOURTIER » , en creux sur la terrasse ovale naturaliste , enrichie d’un profil .
Sculpture d’édition ancienne , période fin XIXème siècle .
Très bon état de conservation et de patine .

A bronze sculpture with a nuanced brown patina , depicting a partridge accompanied by a snail , by the sculptor Prosper Lecourtier (1851-1924) .
The partridge is shown standing , with finely chiseled plumage , resting on a richly ornamented naturalistic base , upon which sits a snail .
The sculptor paid particular attention to anatomical details and the accuracy of movement in his subjects .
His works are considered remarkably detailed, with very thorough chiseling , complemented by elegant poses .
The sculptor’s signature « LECOURTIER » is incised , on the oval naturalistic base , which is further enhanced by a profile .
This is an early edition sculpture , dating from the late 19th century .
It is in very good condition , both in terms of preservation and patina .

Prosper Lecourtier (1851-1924)
Prosper Lecourtier , né le 12 juillet 1851 à Gremilly et mort le 19 janvier 1925 à Saint-Maurice , estun célèbre sculpteur animalier français .
Élève d’Emmanuel Frémiet (1824-1910) et de Jules Coutan (1848-1939), il expose régulièrement au Salon de 1875 , jusqu’à sa mort en 1924 .
Emmanuel Frémiet , semble avoir légué à son élève sa passion pour le monde animalier , cependant P.Lecourtier se détache de son modèle parl’intégration du mouvement .
Il possède un réel sens du naturalisme dans le modelé anatomique et les expressions des animaux représentés.
Son talent était déjà reconnu de son vivant puisqu’il remporta plusieurs médailles au Salon et lors des expositions Universelles .
Le sculpteur Alexis André (1858-1935) , évoqua l’artiste dans ces termes , « Lecourtier , sculpteur animalier de grand talent , bohème achevé à la vie mysterieuse » .

Prosper Lecourtier , born July 12 , 1851 in Gremilly and died January 19 , 1925 in Saint-Maurice , is a famous French animal sculptor .
A student of Emmanuel Fremiet (1824-1910) and Jules Coutan (1848-1939) , he exhibited regularly at the Salon of 1875 , until his death in 1924 .
Emmanuel Fremiet , seems to have bequeathed to his student his passion for the animal world , however P. Lecourtier detaches himself from his model bythe integration of movement .
He has a real sense of naturalism in the anatomical modeling and the expressions of the animals represented .
His talent was already recognized during his lifetime since he won several medals at the Salon and at the Universal Exhibitions. The sculptor Alexis Andre (1858-1935) described the artist in these terms : « Lecourtier , animal sculptor of great talent , accomplished bohemian with a mysterious life ».
