Alfredo BIAGINI (1886 – 1952)

Alfredo Biagini est un sculpteur italien , né à Rome en 1886 .

Fils d’un orfèvre , il étudie la sculpture et l’architecture de 1905 à 1909 , à l’Académie des Beaux-Arts de Rome .
Après cette première phase d’études , il s’installe pour un temps à Paris , où il suit des cours d’architecture et de sculpture , puis des cours d’anatomie ou il étudie les animaux du zoo de la ville à partir de 1909 .
Il y développe son identité d’artiste animalier .

Son intérêt pour les animaux , lui vaut d’être récompensé par le Musée National d’Histoire Naturelle de Paris , en 1909 .
Les oeuvres d’Alfredo Biagini se caractérisent par un équilibre entre naturalisme et stylisation , entre rendu des détails et simplification des volumes .

La notoriété du sculpteur augmente au cours des années grâce à sa participation constante aux Expositions Nationales et Internationales , comme la Biennale de Venise de 1924 à 1930 et l’Exposition Internationale d’Art Moderne de Genève en 1920 .

Alfredo Biagini is an Italian sculptor , born in Rome in 1886 .

The son of a goldsmith , he studied sculpture and architecture from 1905 to 1909 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome .
After this first phase of studies , he settled for a time in Paris , where he took courses in architecture and sculpture , then courses in anatomy where he studied the animals of the city’s zoo , from 1909 .
There he developed his identity as an animal artist .

His interest in animals earned him an award from the National Museum of Natural History in Paris in 1909 .
Alfredo Biagini’s works are characterized by a balance between naturalism and stylization , between rendering details and simplification of volumes .

The sculptor’s fame grew over the years thanks to his constant participation in National and International Exhibitions , such as the Venice Biennale from 1924 to 1930 and the International Exhibition of Modern Art in Geneva in 1920 .

Alfredo BIAGINI died in 1952 in Rome .
