Alfred Barye (1839-1895)
Alfred Barye, renowned French sculptor, known as "the Son", or "Alf Barye", born in Paris, January 21, 1839.
Alfred Barye was a pupil of his father, the sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875).
He trained and worked in his father's workshop and foundry.
His work includes animal bronzes as well as orientalist and comic subjects.
He exhibited at the Salon from 1864 to 1882.
The works of Alfred Barye show a very high degree of detail, execution and finish, equal to the works of his father.
Alfred Barye produced the "Arabian Horseman on Horseback" with the collaboration of Émile Coriolan Guillemin (1841-1907), edited by Ferdinand Barbedienne Fondeur.
He died on May 13, 1895, in Paris.
